Congress Requests ECI to Postpone SIR in Maharashtra Due to Ashadhi Wari and Monsoon Rains

The annual Ashadhi Wari pilgrimage is currently underway, attracting hundreds of thousands of devotees from over 20 districts across western Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Vidarbha. Participants travel on foot to the revered town of Pandharpur, known for its important temple dedicated to Lord Vithoba, a prominent deity in the region.

This year, the pilgrimage coincides with the monsoon season, which adds a unique dimension to the spiritual journey but also presents challenges such as varying weather conditions and the need for adequate arrangements for pilgrims. Local authorities and organizations often collaborate to ensure the safety and comfort of the devotees, providing amenities along the popular routes. The Ashadhi Wari takes place in the month of Ashadha, traditionally seen as a time of renewal and devotion in the Hindu calendar. This event has a rich cultural significance and is marked by communal harmony, faith, and an enduring sense of pilgrimage in Maharashtras heritage.
