### Delhi Experiences Above Average Rainfall in August

Delhi has registered significant rainfall in the first eight days of August 2023, surpassing the average rainfall for the entire month of August. This unusual weather pattern has raised concerns about the citys drainage systems and infrastructure.

According to reports, the city has already recorded 121 mm of rainfall, exceeding the average of 115 mm typically observed in August. This uptick in precipitation has resulted in widespread waterlogging across various parts of the city, leading to 81 reported incidents of waterlogging and the fall of 32 trees due to the impact of the rain.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that moderate rain is likely to continue in the coming days, which could exacerbate the existing conditions on the roads. Residents in Delhi-NCR, including Noida, Gurgaon, and Ghaziabad, are advised to stay updated on weather alerts and exercise caution while traveling.

The rains are attributed to the presence of a low-pressure area over the region, which is contributing to the sustained rainfall activity. Although the rains are beneficial for the water supply and agricultural needs, the urban infrastructure needs to adapt to handle such weather events more efficiently to avoid the disruptions currently experienced.
