Delhi Launches Lakshmi Yojana Portal, Reports Over 1,000 Registrations by Noon

The Delhi government has officially launched the Lakshmi Yojana portal aimed at providing financial assistance to women in the city. As of noon on the first day of its operation, 1,083 women had registered for the program. The initiative is designed to support women financially by offering a monthly stipend of ₹2,500, which cannot be used for purchasing alcohol or engaging in online gaming.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal inaugurated the portal, highlighting the government’s commitment to empowering women and alleviating financial burdens. The scheme is expected to benefit women from diverse backgrounds and help improve their economic independence.

Eligible women will be able to choose between two methods to receive the stipend: either through a direct bank transfer or a card system designed for ease of use. To ensure the effective implementation of this program, the government plans to conduct random door-to-door visits to verify the eligibility of applicants.
