Delhi to Begin SIR Enumeration on June 30, Joining Four Other States
The states initiating the Special Integrated Registration (SIR) process include Karnataka, Meghalaya, Maharashtra, and Jharkhand, alongside the previously mentioned state. Collectively, these five states have a combined voter base of approximately 197.9 million individuals.
The SIR process is aimed at enhancing voter registration through streamlined procedures and is expected to increase electoral participation by making it easier for eligible citizens to register. This initiative is part of a broader effort by the Election Commission of India to improve voter turnout and strengthen democratic processes across the nation. Implementing such measures in these states, which vary in demographics and political landscapes, reflects the Commissions commitment to inclusivity and accessibility in the electoral system.
