Election Commission Implements QR Code Photo ID Cards for Access to Counting Centres
A new voting system is set to be implemented during the vote-counting process scheduled for May 4, which will affect the Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, as well as elections in three additional states and the Union Territory of Puducherry. This system will also be utilized for the by-elections occurring in seven Assembly constituencies across five states.
The introduction of this voting system is aimed at enhancing transparency and improving the accuracy of results. This change comes ahead of the scheduled elections, where voters will be casting their ballots for local representatives. In Tamil Nadu, the Assembly elections are particularly significant, as the region has a diverse political landscape with multiple parties vying for control.
In addition to Tamil Nadu, the other states participating in this election cycle are yet to be specified. The decision to implement this system marks a notable step in electoral reform and is anticipated to streamline the counting process, ultimately contributing to more efficient election operations. Further updates will be provided as the election date approaches.
