Environmental Group Appeals to Congressional Leaders on Concerns Over Legislative Actions in Kerala

The Coexistence Collective, a diverse coalition of environmental organizations, wildlife conservationists, researchers, scientists, and civil society groups, has raised concerns regarding actions by certain leaders within the Congress party that they believe could jeopardize the safeguarding of forests, wildlife, and environmental protections in Kerala.

According to the Collective, these alleged actions have reportedly intensified since the United Democratic Front (UDF) assumed power in the state. The group emphasizes the importance of upholding environmental regulations and practices to ensure the sustainable management of Keralas rich biodiversity and forest resources, which play a critical role in both ecological balance and the livelihoods of local communities.

As part of their advocacy, the Coexistence Collective plans to engage in discussions with policymakers and stakeholders to promote awareness about the significance of environmental conservation. The coalition aims to mobilize public support to ensure that the ecological integrity of Kerala is not compromised in the face of developmental pressures.

The ongoing debate highlights the complex intersection of environmental conservation and political governance, especially in regions known for their ecological significance.
