EPFO Introduces Three-Day PF Claim Settlement for Subscribers

The Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has implemented a new policy aimed at expediting the settlement of Provident Fund (PF) claims, reducing the processing time to just three days. Previously, the settlement process could take several weeks to complete, leaving many members awaiting their funds. With this new initiative, the EPFO aims to streamline operations and improve overall service delivery. New Cap on Provident Fund Contributions

Alongside this reform, the EPFO has announced a cap on mandatory Provident Fund contributions at ₹1,800 per month. While the previous structure allowed higher contributions, this cap seeks to Equalize the burden of contributions for subscribers. Additional contributions beyond ₹1,800 will now be voluntary, providing individuals the flexibility to adjust their retirement savings according to their personal financial situations.

Unclaimed EPF Accounts Amounting to Rs 9,330 Crore

In related news, it has been revealed that there are approximately 30.9 lakh unclaimed EPF accounts holding a total of ₹9,330 crore. This significant sum is reportedly substantial enough in value to construct three Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). The government is encouraging individuals to check their accounts and claim their dues to reduce the number of unclaimed accounts and ensure that funds are utilized effectively.
