Fog Covers 10 UP Cities as Temperatures Decrease; Visibility Falls Below 10 Meters in Shravasti, Noidas Air Quality Index Reaches High Levels
A dense fog has settled over ten cities in Uttar Pradesh, leading to a significant drop in visibility and a notable chill in the air. In Shravasti, visibility has plummeted to less than 10 meters, creating concerns for travelers and commuters.
The fog has affected various regions throughout the state, with Noida seeing its Air Quality Index (AQI) rise sharply to levels topping 400, placing it in the “severe” category. Such high pollution levels can pose serious health risks, particularly for vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and those with preexisting health conditions.
Meteorological authorities attribute the fog and cold winds to a combination of climatic factors, including lower temperatures and moisture in the air. As January progresses, residents in these areas are advised to take precautions against the cold and limit exposure to outdoor conditions, particularly during early morning hours when fog is densest.
Travel services have also been impacted, with delays reported in flights and train services due to the low visibility. Authorities are urging travelers to check the status of their journeys and exercise caution while driving.
As the winter season continues, local weather forecasts indicate that similar conditions might persist, leading residents to prepare for ongoing chilly weather and foggy conditions in the days to come.
