Foreign Ministers Convene in Preparation for PM Modi’s Upcoming Visit to Indonesia

The Ministry of External Affairs has announced that External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and his Indonesian counterpart, Minister Sugiono, are set to conduct a comprehensive review of bilateral relations between India and Indonesia. This review will encompass a wide range of cooperative areas including defense, security, maritime issues, trade, and investment.

This meeting is particularly significant given the strategic partnership between India and Indonesia, two nations with shared interests in maintaining stability and security in the Indo-Pacific region. Both countries have been collaborating to enhance defense ties, with joint military exercises and defense procurement being key highlights. Additionally, the review aims to bolster economic cooperation, as both nations seek to increase trade and investment flows in light of the changing global economic landscape.

Through this review, India and Indonesia aim to further strengthen their diplomatic and economic ties, which could lead to increased collaboration in addressing regional challenges and promoting mutual interests.
