Former Kerala Chief Secretary Jiji Thomson Claims Gyanesh Kumar Recommended Contesting in Local Body Elections on BJP Ticket
Former Kerala Chief Secretary Jiji Thomson Claims Political Suggestion from Gyanesh Kumar
Jiji Thomson, the former Chief Secretary of Kerala, has alleged that Gyanesh Kumar, a prominent administrative officer and current Director of the Kerala State Planning Board, suggested he consider contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket.
Thomson, who has previously held notable positions in the Kerala government, stated in an interview that Kumars suggestion came during a conversation about the political landscape in the state. He expressed surprise at the recommendation, given the significant differences between his administrative role and the political dynamics within the BJP.
The BJP, which has been actively working to improve its presence in Kerala, has seen fluctuating electoral success in the state. In the past few elections, the party has aimed to strengthen its influence in a region traditionally dominated by the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the United Democratic Front (UDF).
Kumar could not be reached for comment at this time, and it remains to be seen how Thomsons public acknowledgment of the suggestion will impact his future political ambitions, if any. The next Lok Sabha elections are scheduled for 2024, amid growing speculation about potential candidates across various political parties in Kerala.
