Four Domestic Players Participate in New Mobile Manufacturing Scheme

The Indian government has officially launched a new ₹62,500 crore (approximately $7.5 billion) mobile phone manufacturing scheme aimed at enhancing the countrys global competitiveness in the electronics sector. This initiative, which is part of Indias broader strategy to increase domestic value addition and reduce reliance on imports, encourages local production of smartphones and related electronic devices.

As part of the scheme, four domestic companies are slated to participate, which signifies a collaborative effort between the government and the private sector to bolster Indias manufacturing capabilities. This move comes amidst a growing global demand for electronic devices, where India aims to position itself as a key manufacturing hub.
