Government Approves 31 Electronics Component Applications Valued at Rs 7,877 Crore Under ECMS 2.0

The Indian government has approved 31 applications for electronics component manufacturing under the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS) 2.0, which is expected to attract investments totaling ₹7,877 crore (approximately $950 million). This new tranche of approvals aims to enhance domestic manufacturing capabilities and reduce dependency on imports in the electronics sector.

Notable companies such as Kaynes Technology, Dixon Technologies, and Wipro are among the recipients of these approvals, with plans to establish or expand their manufacturing facilities. These operations are projected to commence within the upcoming months, contributing to the governments initiative to bolster the electronics manufacturing ecosystem in India.

Minister of Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw emphasized the importance of deepening design and supply chain capabilities within the industry as demand for electronics continues to grow. The ECMS scheme aligns with the broader goals of the Make in India initiative, which focuses on promoting local manufacturing and generating employment.

The approvals not only support the growth of individual companies but also signify the governments commitment to fostering a competitive electronics manufacturing sector, which is crucial for achieving the countrys economic growth targets.
