Government Approves Rs 7,877 Crore ECMS Tranche for Upcoming Plant Launches

The Indian government has approved an investment of ₹7,877 crore (approximately $944 million) under its Electronic Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS) for the establishment and enhancement of various electronics manufacturing projects. This decision will propel the operations of notable firms including Kaynes, Micromax, and Wipro, all of which are set to go live shortly as a part of this initiative.

The ECMS aims to boost domestic production of electronic components, thereby reducing dependence on imports and enhancing Indias position in the global electronics market. With the clearance of these 31 proposals, the initiative aligns with the governments broader “Make in India” campaign, which seeks to encourage manufacturing within the country.

The electronic manufacturing sector has seen significant growth in recent years, driven by increased consumer demand for electronic devices and modern technologies.
