Government to Cover Certification Costs for Micro and Small Exporters Under EPM Program

The Indian government has announced that it will cover the certification costs for micro and small exporters under the Export Promotion Mission (EPM). This initiative, revealed by Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, aims to support these businesses in enhancing their competitiveness in the global market.

During a recent event, Goyal emphasized the importance of micro and small enterprises (MSEs) in driving economic growth and creating employment opportunities. He noted that these businesses often face challenges in accessing international markets due to high certification costs, which can be a barrier to entry. By alleviating this financial burden, the government hopes to empower MSEs to expand their reach and improve their product quality.

The EPM is designed to provide various forms of assistance to exporters, including financial support, training, and access to market intelligence. Goyal highlighted that the government is committed to fostering a conducive environment for exporters, particularly those in the micro and small sectors, which play a vital role in the Indian economy.

In addition to covering certification costs, the government is also working on simplifying export procedures and enhancing the ease of doing business for small exporters. This includes initiatives to streamline documentation and reduce regulatory hurdles, making it easier for MSEs to navigate the complexities of international trade.

The announcement has been welcomed by industry stakeholders, who believe that this support will significantly boost the confidence of small exporters. By facilitating access to necessary certifications, the government is not only helping these businesses grow but also contributing to the overall goal of increasing Indias export potential.

As the global market continues to evolve, the Indian government remains focused on ensuring that micro and small exporters are well-equipped to compete on an international scale. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to strengthen the countrys export sector and enhance its position in the global economy.
