Government assures no fertilizer shortage for kharif and rabi crops; readiness for El Niño confirmed by Shivraj Singh Chouhan
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has assured farmers that urea and diammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizers will remain economically accessible, with the government committed to absorbing any price increases. He confirmed that India currently holds sufficient fertilizer stocks to meet the demands of the kharif season and is proactively managing supplies for the approaching rabi season.
In light of concerns related to the El Niño weather phenomenon, Minister Chouhan emphasized that the government has established robust preparations to mitigate potential agricultural impacts, including fostering international cooperation to address challenges that may arise from climate fluctuations. This proactive approach aims to ensure stability in agricultural productivity and support farmer livelihoods in the face of environmental uncertainties.
The governments efforts reflect its ongoing commitment to maintaining food security and supporting the agricultural sector, which plays a vital role in the Indian economy.
