Government Launches Major Initiative for Coal Gasification with ₹4 Lakh Crore Investment Target, Aiming for ₹3 Lakh Crore in Savings and Creation of 1 Lakh Jobs

Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy recently highlighted the Indian governments focus on advancing both surface and underground coal gasification technologies. This initiative aims to decrease the countrys reliance on coal imports and enhance energy security.

Coal gasification is a process that converts coal into gas, which can then be utilized to produce a variety of high-value by-products. These by-products include ammonia, methanol, hydrogen, fertilizers, chemicals, and petrochemicals, which are vital for various industrial applications.

The Minister emphasized that these efforts not only address import dependence but also contribute to the development of a more sustainable energy landscape in India by maximizing the utility of domestic coal reserves.
