Government Streamlines Scholarship Process for SC and OBC Students by Eliminating Domicile Certificate Requirement
The Department of Social Justice and Empowerment has announced significant changes to the scholarship application process for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Other Backward Class (OBC) students. Notably, the requirement for a domicile certificate has been removed to streamline the application procedure. This reform is part of a broader initiative to enhance accessibility for approximately 12 million beneficiaries.
In addition to the removal of the domicile certificate requirement, the department has introduced the SETU portal, which is integrated into the UMANG (Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance) platform. This digital initiative aims to minimize bureaucratic hurdles and simplify the application process, promoting a more efficient and user-friendly experience for students.
These reforms are expected to improve transparency and efficiency in the delivery of welfare schemes, fostering an inclusive environment for marginalized groups in the education sector. The government’s commitment to reducing administrative burdens aligns with its broader goal of ensuring that educational opportunities reach all deserving students.
