Government to Provide Additional Lower-Priced Domestic Natural Gas to Distributors for New Connections
The Indian government has announced a new initiative that will come into effect on September 1. This initiative aims to provide benefits for new domestic Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections that exceed a predetermined threshold in various geographical regions.
Currently, India has approximately 17.4 million domestic PNG connections, which serve as an essential energy source for households across the country. The specifics of the thresholds for each area have not yet been disclosed, but the government is expected to provide further details to ensure clarity for consumers and service providers.
This initiative is part of Indias broader strategy to enhance energy accessibility and promote cleaner fuel options, aligning with the countrys commitment to sustainable development and reducing its carbon footprint. The government encourages more households to switch to PNG, which is regarded as a more efficient and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional energy sources like kerosene and LPG.
