GRAP 1 Implemented in Delhi NCR: Whats Banned, Allowed, and Upcoming Restrictions Starting November 1
Starting November 1, new restrictions will be implemented in the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR) as part of the measures invoked under the GRAP-1, or Gradation of Response Action Plan. This plan is a strategic initiative aimed at combating air pollution within the region.
Under the GRAP-1 framework, several activities will be restricted to alleviate pollution levels. Industries that do not possess valid pollution control certificates are instructed to shut down their operations. Additionally, construction and demolition activities will also be halted, particularly those that generate significant dust and particulate matter, unless they are necessary for public welfare. The burning of waste and other materials will be strictly prohibited during this period.
Despite these limitations, some essential activities will still be permitted. Essential services, such as healthcare and emergency repairs, will continue to operate as needed. Moreover, agricultural activities, including the preparation of land for cultivation and necessary sowing, are allowed to proceed without further interruption.
The GRAP is part of a gradual response system that escalates levels of curbs based on the severity of air pollution. This initiative aims to protect public health and improve air quality. Authorities emphasize the importance of community engagement and cooperation in adhering to these measures to achieve a cleaner environment.
As the implementation date approaches, residents and businesses in Delhi-NCR are encouraged to stay informed about these restrictions to ensure compliance and contribute toward reducing air pollution in their area.
