I&B Ministry Forms Committee to Support Film Industry Development

Prasoon Joshi has been appointed as the chairperson of a newly established committee focused on the film industry by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. In addition to this appointment, the Ministry has developed a set of Model State Cinema Regulations aimed at standardizing cinema governance and operations across various states in India.

These regulations are intended to provide a framework that states can adopt to enhance the regulation of film production, distribution, and exhibition within their jurisdictions. The initiative seeks to address various issues within the film sector, including licensing, censorship, and the promotion of local cinema.

Prasoon Joshi, a renowned lyricist and screenplay writer, has a significant background in shaping Indian cinema, and his leadership in this committee may influence future policies that support the film industrys growth and sustainability. The expectation is that these developments will streamline processes for filmmakers and foster a more conducive environment for creative expression in India’s diverse cultural landscape.
