IIT Delhi Innovations Recognized at Sanrachna 2026 Technical Textiles Hackathon

Three innovative research projects from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhis Department of Textile and Fibre Engineering have been distinguished as top contenders at the Sanrachna 2026 Product Development and Design Hackathon. This event is part of the National Technical Textiles Mission, which aims to promote advancements in the textile industry.

The hackathon saw participation from over 700 submissions, narrowing down to 31 finalists, which illustrates the high level of competition and interest in developing technical textile solutions. The standout projects from IIT Delhi encompass advancements in wound care, protective clothing for extreme cold environments, and specialized textiles designed for agricultural use, particularly benefiting farmers working in challenging conditions.

The innovators accomplishments were recognized by Union Minister Giriraj Singh at a ceremony honoring the competitions participants and their contributions to the field of technical textiles. This recognition not only highlights the innovative spirit within Indian academia but also underscores the potential impact of these technologies on both healthcare and agricultural sectors.

The National Technical Textiles Mission is an initiative by the Government of India aimed at elevating the countrys position in the global technical textiles market, promoting research, innovation, and commercialization in this vital industry.
