IIT Madras Alumnus Establishes ₹4,200 Crore Company, Donates ₹228 Crore in Shares; IPO Achieves Record Milestone

Dr. Krishna Chivukula, an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras and the founder of Indo-MIM Pvt Ltd, has made significant headlines with his recent philanthropic efforts. In 2024, Dr. Chivukula donated shares valued at approximately Rs 228 crore to his alma mater, marking a historic contribution to the institution.

Following this donation, IIT Madras was able to realize around Rs 112 crore by divesting a portion of its stake during Indo-MIMs initial public offering (IPO). This development is notable as it represents the largest cash distribution related to an IPO that an Indian university has ever received.
