India-Oman Free Trade Agreement Set to Commence on June 1 Despite Challenges in Chile Negotiations, According to Commerce Minister
The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between India and Oman was officially signed in December 2025. This significant agreement aims to enhance trade and economic cooperation between the two nations, creating a more favorable environment for businesses and investors.
Under the CEPA, both countries intend to reduce tariffs on a range of goods, facilitate smoother trade processes, and encourage bilateral investments. The agreement is expected to not only strengthen economic ties but also create job opportunities and enhance the exchange of services, technology, and intellectual property.
India and Oman have a long-standing relationship, bolstered by historical ties and a shared interest in economic growth. The CEPA is anticipated to further solidify this partnership and expand bilateral trade, which has seen considerable growth in recent years. As of 2023, the trade volume between the two countries was approximately $5 billion, and the CEPA aims to boost this figure significantly in the coming years.
