Indias Ram Temple Board Restructured Following Allegations of Donation Misappropriation
Title: Ram Temple Trust Restructures Following Donation Controversy
The management board of the Ram Temple Trust in India has undergone significant changes in the wake of allegations regarding the misappropriation of donations intended for the temples construction. The trust is responsible for overseeing the development of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, a site of significant cultural and religious importance.
In a recent press briefing, the trust confirmed that all valuable items, including over 30 kilograms of gold-like donations, are secure. Trust treasurer claims that these assets have been maintained under stringent security measures. Additionally, it was reported that the trust had spent approximately ₹3,264 crore (around $392 million) on various temple-related activities. Some silver donations were melted down to form assets for the temple.
The trust has also revealed plans to open its records for scrutiny and has publicly displayed a gold-plated version of the Ramcharitmanas, asserting transparency. Changes within the board include the acceptance of resignations from certain trust members, a move believed to restore public confidence following the controversies.
Interim General Secretary, Krishna Mohan, has stepped up to guide the organizations reorientation efforts. The trust aims to improve its governance and strengthen its financial oversight to prevent any future allegations of misuse or mismanagement.
The Ram Temple project is expected to attract significant numbers of devotees and tourists upon completion, and the trust is committed to ensuring that all funds are utilized appropriately for the temples development.
