India Aims for Zero Casualties During Heat Waves, Says Amit Shah
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has developed a comprehensive strategy aimed at addressing the increasing severity of heat waves across the country. Union Home Minister Amit Shah highlighted the initiative, expressing confidence in the governments ability to achieve “zero casualty” from heat-related incidents in the coming years.
The MHAs plan includes enhancing public awareness campaigns about the dangers of extreme heat, improving early warning systems, and implementing measures to provide relief and support to vulnerable populations during heat waves. This initiative comes as climate change continues to exacerbate weather patterns, leading to more frequent and intense heat events.
In addition to the immediate response initiatives, the MHA plans to collaborate with other government departments, local authorities, and non-governmental organizations to ensure a coordinated effort in mitigating the impacts of heat waves. These measures are part of a broader national climate resilience strategy aimed at protecting communities and improving preparedness for various climate-related challenges.
