India Criticizes Pakistan for Promoting Biased Narratives in UNSC Membership Discussion

Pakistan has been actively vocal about the Jammu and Kashmir issue, along with various internal matters concerning India, during its participation in numerous United Nations forums. As a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), Pakistan is set to conclude its term later this year.

The UNSC comprises 15 members, including five permanent members with veto power and ten non-permanent members elected for two-year terms. Pakistan was elected to the UNSC for the 2021-2022 term, a position that allows it to influence discussions and decisions on international peace and security issues. During its tenure, Pakistan has consistently emphasized its stance on Kashmir, highlighting what it perceives as human rights violations and advocating for what it considers a just resolution to the conflict.

As its term approaches an end, Pakistans efforts to address regional security concerns, including issues related to Kashmir, will continue to be scrutinized both domestically and internationally. Pakistans activities in the UNSC are part of its broader diplomatic strategy to engage with global powers on issues pertinent to its national interests.
