India Expected to Receive 90% of Long-Term Average Rainfall This Monsoon, According to IMD
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has updated its forecast regarding the arrival of the monsoon in Kerala, initially predicted for May 26. According to the latest reports, the onset of the monsoon is now likely to occur in the first week of June.
The IMD stated that various atmospheric conditions, including changes in wind patterns and humidity, are being closely monitored as they may influence the monsoon’s timing. The southwest monsoon plays a crucial role in the agriculture sector in Kerala, which is heavily dependent on seasonal rainfall for crops such as rice, rubber, and spices.
Farmers and agricultural experts are advised to prepare for the season accordingly, as timely rainfall is essential for optimal crop production. Past trends indicate that variations in the monsoons onset can have significant effects on crop yields and food security in the region.
