India Experiences 30% Growth in Michelin-rated Hotels in Second Year of Program
Indias luxury hotel sector has gained recognition from the Michelin Guide, with 47 establishments earning the prestigious “Keys” designation. This evaluation process adheres to five universal criteria designed to uphold high standards of service, hospitality, and overall guest experience.
Among the notable hotels awarded three Keys are the Taj Falaknuma Palace in Hyderabad and the Taj Lake Palace in Udaipur, both renowned for their unique architecture and exceptional service. The increase in Michelin Guide evaluations reflects India’s growing appeal as a luxury travel destination, showcasing its rich heritage, diverse culture, and culinary offerings.
While Indias culinary scene is increasingly acknowledged on the global stage, local restaurants are still in pursuit of the coveted Michelin star status. As the Michelin Guide expands its reach in India, industry experts anticipate that recognition for fine dining establishments may follow, further elevating the country’s gastronomic reputation. This development aligns with the rising global interest in Indian cuisine, which features a fusion of flavors, techniques, and regional specialties, underscoring the potential for future accolades.
