Indian Athletes Adapt to Unique Preparations for Asian Games.
Indian Athletes Prepare for Asian Games in Innovative Accommodation
As the much-anticipated Asian Games approach, Indian athletes are gearing up for a unique preparatory experience. To simulate the conditions they will face during the Games, many athletes are staying in container-style accommodation set up by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) at various training centers. This initiative, which has been dubbed “Little Japan,” aims to provide athletes with a taste of the environment they will experience during their competitions in Hangzhou, China.
The container housing arrangement is designed to replicate aspects of the accommodations athletes will have during the Asian Games. Reports indicate the setup includes modern amenities and provides a controlled environment to help athletes acclimatize both physically and mentally. The initiative also addresses practical considerations such as food preferences and cultural nuances, ensuring that athletes are well-prepared for their time abroad.
In addition to accommodation, SAI has also introduced several support systems for athletes, including a safeguarding hotline, mental wellness resources, and a regimen of culturally relevant activities. These measures are intended to ease the transition for athletes heading to a country with a different culture and language, thereby enhancing their overall experience and performance.
Moreover, during their training sessions at the National Center of Excellence in Bengaluru, the athletes engaged in themed days that reflect Japanese customs, further immersing them in the culture they will encounter in Hangzhou.
As the Asian Games are set to commence on September 23, 2023, the Indian contingent is aiming for a strong showing, bolstered by this innovative preparation strategy. With over 600 athletes expected to participate, Indias focus remains on not only securing medals but also ensuring a smooth and successful experience for all participants.
This preparation strategy has garnered attention as an example of how innovation in sports training can help athletes perform better on international stages.
