Indian Navy Intervenes Against Piracy in Gulf of Aden; Three Ships Still Captive, IMO Reports
The Indian Navys INS Trikand successfully intercepted and secured the bulk carrier Golden Arsenal, which was en route to Thoothukudi. This operation underscores the ongoing challenges posed by piracy in the region.
According to the International Maritime Organization (IMO), three additional vessels remain in the hands of pirates, with reports indicating a critical situation aboard one of these ships that includes an Indian crew member among its personnel. Furthermore, five Indians are reportedly part of the crew on two of the three vessels that are still under pirate control.
The rise in piracy incidents in specific maritime corridors has prompted increased vigilance and coordinated responses from naval forces worldwide. Authorities are urging shipping companies to take additional security measures when navigating these high-risk areas.
