Indian Railways Plans to Achieve 350 km/h Speeds with Upcoming Indigenous Bullet Train; Initial Model Expected to Reach 280 km/h
Indias first bullet train is under production by BEML, a company based in Bengaluru. The project is anticipated to be completed and operational by the year 2027.
The bullet train will operate on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route, which has been identified as a key corridor for high-speed rail travel in the country. This ambitious project is part of India’s efforts to modernize its railway infrastructure and enhance connectivity between major urban centers.
The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor is expected to significantly reduce travel time between the two cities, making the journey in approximately two hours compared to the current time of around 7 hours by conventional train.
The initiative has been bolstered by technology and expertise from Japan, which has been involved in the projects development. As part of the endeavor, a total of 24 trains are expected to be manufactured, each capable of speeds of up to 320 km/h.
Further, this bullet train project aligns with the Indian governments broader vision of expanding high-speed rail networks across the country, which aims to meet the growing demand for rapid transit solutions and improve overall passenger experience on Indian railways.
