Indias bullet train shell prepared for squeeze test; track testing anticipated by May-June 2027.

At the NaMo for Viksit Bharat event held in Vadodara, Union Minister for Railways, Communications, and Electronics and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw reported significant progress on Indias first bullet train project. He announced that the initial body frame of the bullet train has recently been completed and is currently undergoing a critical squeeze test, a process designed to ensure the structural integrity and safety of the train.

Vaishnaw emphasized the timeline for the project, stating that the bullet train is anticipated to be on the tracks for testing by May or June of next year. Following a testing period of approximately 2 to 4 months, the bullet train is expected to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

This ambitious bullet train project, known as the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor, is part of Indias broader efforts to modernize its rail infrastructure and improve transportation efficiency across the country. The train, developed with technology from Japan, aims to reduce travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, which currently takes over 7 hours, to just about 2 hours. The project is significant not only for its potential to enhance connectivity but also for its role in promoting economic development and sustainable transport solutions in India.
