Indias Fastest Train Corridor Set to Source 60% of Power from Solar Energy

The Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor is poised to enhance its sustainability through a new agreement for a 110 MW captive solar power plant. This initiative is projected to meet approximately 60% of the corridor’s total electricity requirements, significantly contributing to its operational energy needs.

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has formalized a power purchase agreement with NIRL NCRTC Renewables Limited (NNRL) to facilitate this solar energy project. This development aligns with broader efforts to promote renewable energy sources and reduce the carbon footprint of transportation infrastructure.

The implementation of the solar plant is expected to play a pivotal role in supporting the corridors electrified operations, which aims to offer efficient and environmentally friendly public transport options in the rapidly growing National Capital Region (NCR).
