Indias First Satellite-Tagged Ganges Soft-Shell Turtle Released in Kaziranga

In a significant move for wildlife conservation, a freshwater reptile was released on the occasion of Endangered Species Day in Assam. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the release as a pivotal step toward preserving the regions biodiversity and protecting endangered species.

Endangered Species Day, observed annually in May, raises awareness about the conservation of endangered plants and animals. In Assam, efforts to protect biodiversity are critical, given the states rich wildlife, including several endangered species such as the one-horned rhinoceros and the Bengal tiger.
