Indias Growth Remains Robust, but Trade Barriers Pose Risks to 2047 Objectives

Indias economy continues to demonstrate robust growth; however, experts suggest that structural reforms are crucial for the country to achieve developed nation status. The challenges of high trade costs and complex regulatory environments hinder Indias efforts toward greater global economic integration.

According to a recent report by the World Trade Organization, India has made strides in trade facilitation and financial inclusion, which are essential for enhancing trade efficiencies and expanding access to financial services for its population.

In an effort to strengthen its export strategy, India is actively negotiating various free trade agreements (FTAs) with countries and regional blocs. These agreements are aimed at reducing tariffs and trade barriers, thus promoting Indian exports on the global stage.

To capture a larger share of worldwide exports, India faces the task of finding the right balance between fostering self-reliance through domestic manufacturing initiatives and adopting a more open trade policy that encourages foreign investment and participation in international markets. Transitioning towards a more competitive export-oriented economy will be essential for India to realize its potential in the global marketplace.
