India to Introduce 350 km/h Bullet Trains by 2030, with Initial Launch in 2027

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail corridor, spanning 508 kilometers, is projected for completion by December 2030. However, an initial segment of the corridor is expected to be operational by 2027. To facilitate this, BEML (Bharat Earth Movers Limited) is currently in the process of manufacturing high-speed train sets designed to reach speeds of up to 280 km/h.

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor is a crucial infrastructure project aimed at significantly reducing travel time between the two cities, which is currently around 7 to 8 hours by conventional means. Upon its anticipated completion, the high-speed rail service is expected to reduce this duration to approximately two hours, enhancing connectivity and fostering economic growth in the region.

The project is part of India’s wider efforts to develop high-speed rail networks to modernize transportation and improve passenger experience. It is funded by a loan from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and aligns with Indias goal to upgrade its railway infrastructure to support a growing population and increase efficiency in travel and logistics.
