IndiGo Orders Over 1,000 Engines for A320 Aircraft
IndiGo has made a historic move by placing an order for over 1,000 engines, marking a substantial investment in its future fleet expansion. The engines will power 510 Airbus A320neo family aircraft, a key component of the airline’s growth strategy. CFM International has been selected to supply the LEAP-1A engines, which are known for their fuel efficiency and performance.
Additionally, CFM will set up a Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility in India, which is expected to enhance the airlines operational capabilities and reduce maintenance downtime. Honeywell Aerospace is also part of this initiative, providing advanced avionics and power systems for the new aircraft, which will improve functionality and safety.
IndiGos ambitious plan includes doubling its fleet by 2030 to meet increasing passenger demand in the growing aviation market. This development is in line with the airlines strategy to maintain a competitive edge and expand its footprint both domestically and internationally. As of October 2023, IndiGo is currently Indias largest airline by market share and continues to play a pivotal role in the country’s aviation industry.
