International Yoga Day 2026: Prime Minister Modi to Lead National Celebration in Kolkata

International Yoga Day celebrations are being organized at approximately 2,500 locations globally, showcasing participation from over 210 Indian diplomatic missions and posts. This year, the theme emphasizes the holistic benefits of yoga, promoting physical health, mental well-being, and spiritual growth.

The event, held annually on June 21, aims to raise awareness worldwide about the numerous advantages of practicing yoga. It was first established by the United Nations in 2014 following a proposal by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In addition to the Indian missions, various international organizations, community groups, and yoga enthusiasts are expected to take part in local celebrations, providing opportunities for individuals to engage in yoga sessions, workshops, and cultural activities. These initiatives highlight yogas global appeal and its role in promoting a healthier lifestyle.
