IPO Countdown Begins: Shares of SBI, IFCI, GIC Re, and Bank of Baroda in Focus Following SEBI Approval

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) is gearing up for its initial public offering (IPO), having received approval from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). The announcement has attracted significant attention towards shares of major public sector banks and insurance firms, including State Bank of India (SBI), IFCI, GIC Re, and Bank of Baroda, which are expected to be among the key players during this IPO period.

The IPO is anticipated to open later this month, with reports indicating a likely issue price of around ₹1,800 per share. Current estimates suggest that the grey market premium (GMP) for the NSE IPO has reached approximately ₹285, indicating strong demand from investors.

Ashutosh Tiwari from Equirus has offered a valuation perspective, stating that share prices could remain below ₹2,000. The overall market sentiment surrounding this IPO has been buoyed by prospects of substantial capital inflow, projecting gains of up to ₹7,200 crore for state-run insurance companies, which are major shareholders in the exchange.

This IPO marks a significant milestone for the NSE, Indias largest stock exchange, which plays a crucial role in facilitating capital market operations in the country. The NSEs successful IPO could set a precedent for other exchanges and strengthen its position in the Indian financial landscape, as it seeks to attract more investment and enhance its market operations post-listing.
