Kargil Raises Concerns Over Distribution of New Districts in Ladakh, Highlighting Muslim Majority Representation
Mustafa Haji, a lawyer and the legal advisor for the Leh Apex Body (LAB), has expressed concerns regarding the recent district creation process in the region. He stated that the manner in which these districts have been delineated appears to reflect significant discrimination against the Muslim population of Kargil.
Hajis comments come in the wake of ongoing discussions surrounding the administrative restructuring and its implications for minority communities in the area. The Leh Apex Body has been actively advocating for equitable development and representation for all communities in Ladakh since the regions reorganization in 2019.
In recent months, the creation of new districts has raised various questions about the distribution of resources and political representation, especially for marginalized groups. Hajis remarks highlight the need for further dialogue and evaluation of governance structures to ensure inclusivity and fair treatment for all residents of the region.
