Karnataka Establishes Greater Bengaluru Local Planning Area; 303 Villages and Central Pete Excluded from Previous LPA; RMP-2015 to Remain Active Until New Master Plan

The Government of Karnataka has officially notified the creation of the Greater Bengaluru Local Planning Area (GBLPA), which involves the reorganization of 303 villages along with the Central Pete area, previously part of the existing Local Planning Area. This move aims to improve urban planning and management in response to the rapid growth and development in the Bengaluru metropolitan region.

The notification denotes that the Revised Master Plan (RMP) of 2015 will continue to be in effect until a new Master Plan is developed. This decision is expected to facilitate a more structured approach to urban development, allowing for better infrastructure, housing, and essential services to be established in the newly designated areas.

Bengaluru, known as Indias Silicon Valley, has experienced significant population growth and urban expansion over the last few years, highlighting the need for updated urban planning strategies. The GBLPA is seen as a critical step towards accommodating this growth and ensuring sustainable development for the region moving forward.

The government has emphasized community involvement and feedback in the planning process, aiming for a more inclusive approach that recognizes the needs and concerns of all stakeholders in the affected areas.
