Karnataka Information Commissioner Reports Resolution of 40,000 RTI Appeals in One Year
The Karnataka Information Commission, in collaboration with the Kalaburagi district administration, hosted a workshop focused on the Right to Information (RTI) Act. This event was specifically tailored for Panchayat Development Officers (PDOs) at the district, taluk, and gram panchayat levels.
The workshop aimed to enhance the understanding and implementation of the RTI Act, a pivotal piece of legislation that empowers citizens to access information held by public authorities, thereby promoting transparency and accountability in governance. Participants received training on the procedural aspects of the RTI Act, best practices for handling information requests, and the importance of public engagement in local governance.
By facilitating this workshop, the Karnataka Information Commission seeks to equip local officials with the necessary tools to better serve their communities and uphold the principles of transparency in government operations. The initiative reflects ongoing efforts to improve the effectiveness of the RTI framework within the state and ensure that citizens are informed about their rights to access information.
