Karnataka Mango Farmers Express Discontent Over Central Government Assistance
In response to the challenges faced by farmers cultivating Totapuri mangoes this year, the State government has recommended a cost of cultivation of ₹17.50 per kilogram for this particular variety. This recommendation includes a minimum support price (MSP) of ₹4.37 per kilogram, aimed at providing better financial security to the growers. The State government has formally submitted a proposal to the Union government seeking approval for this price adjustment.
The Totapuri mango, a popular variety known for its distinct taste and vibrant color, has been adversely affected by various factors, including unfavorable weather conditions and market fluctuations. The governments proposal reflects its commitment to supporting the agricultural sector and ensuring that farmers receive fair compensation for their produce.
If approved, this measure could aid in stabilizing the income of Totapuri mango farmers and contribute to the overall health of the agricultural economy in the region. The government is now awaiting a response from the Union government regarding the proposal.
