Karnataka to Enhance Food Safety Awareness Among Street Vendors
Karnataka Minister for Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs, U.T. Khader, announced an initiative to enhance food-safety awareness among street vendors across the state. This move aims to improve public health standards and ensure safe food practices in the vibrant street food culture that Karnataka is known for.
The initiative is part of a broader strategy to educate vendors about hygiene, safe food handling, and regulations surrounding food safety. Minister Khader emphasized the importance of maintaining quality standards to protect consumers and enhance the street food experience.
The state plans to organize workshops and training sessions for street vendors to equip them with essential knowledge regarding food safety regulations under the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). This program will also aim to promote certification for vendors, further ensuring compliance with safety standards.
Karnataka’s diverse street food offerings are an integral part of its culinary heritage, and the government’s efforts focus on safeguarding public health while preserving this unique aspect of the states culture. The initiative is expected to roll out in the coming months, with collaboration from various stakeholders, including local health authorities and food safety experts.
