Kaziranga National Park Says Farewell to Renowned Patrol Elephant
Joymala, a prominent figure in the conservation efforts at Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve, was born in 1960. She dedicated 34 years of her life to the protection of this UNESCO World Heritage site after joining as a “jungle warrior” in 1992.
During her tenure, Joymala played a critical role in anti-poaching initiatives and the preservation of wildlife habitats, particularly for the Indian one-horned rhinoceros, which is a flagship species of the park. Kaziranga is renowned for its rich biodiversity and has made significant strides in wildlife conservation, thanks in part to the efforts of dedicated individuals like Joymala. Her work has not only contributed to the parks ecological stability but also to the communitys involvement in conservation efforts. As her legacy continues, her commitment serves as an inspiring example for future generations of conservationists.
