Kendriya Vidyalayas Required to Include a Sanskrit Section for Classes 6 and 9, Announces KVS

Sanskrit Offered as Continuity Option in Kendriya Vidyalayas Amid Regional Language Choices

In a bid to facilitate student mobility and cultural continuity, Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) have included Sanskrit as an optional language in their curriculum. This decision is particularly beneficial for students who frequently relocate due to their parents jobs, as it provides a consistent linguistic medium that they can rely on across different schools within the KV system.

At the same time, KVs permit students to opt for regional languages, thereby promoting linguistic diversity and catering to local cultural contexts. However, many KVs are currently grappling with challenges related to a shortage of qualified teachers and adequate resources to effectively implement this bilingual approach.

In response to these challenges, initiatives may be required to bolster teacher training programs and enhance resource allocation, ensuring that all students have equitable access to both Sanskrit and regional language education. The Ministry of Education has stated its commitment to addressing these issues in order to better support the diverse linguistic needs of KV students nationwide.
