Kerala Assembly: Sports Minister Reports Identification of 190 Playgrounds Under One Panchayat One Playground Initiative

O.J. Janeesh has announced that 27 playgrounds have been constructed as part of the OPOP (Oversight for Playground Opportunities Program) scheme. This completion represents approximately 5% of the overall target set for the initiative. The OPOP scheme aims to enhance recreational facilities for children and improve community engagement through the development of safe play areas.

The program, which was launched in response to the growing need for accessible playgrounds in various communities, has a goal of completing a total of 540 playgrounds nationwide. Local authorities have been encouraged to expedite the construction process to meet the set objectives and foster healthier lifestyles among children. Further updates on project timelines and expansion plans are anticipated as the initiative progresses.
