Kerala Revenue Minister Addresses Concerns Over Shrinkage in Government-Built Houses in Wayanad Township

K. Rajan has reported that structural integrity issues, referred to as “shrinkages,” have been identified in two of the 178 houses built for survivors of recent landslides. These homes were constructed as part of an initiative to provide safe housing for those affected by natural disasters in the region.

The housing project aimed to offer support and stability to families displaced by the landslides, which resulted from heavy rainfall and geological instability. Authorities are currently assessing the extent of the damage to the affected structures and will implement necessary repairs to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents.

Additionally, investigations will be conducted to understand the causes of these issues and to prevent similar occurrences in future construction projects. Community members have been encouraged to report any concerns regarding the integrity of their homes to local officials.
