Kerala Assembly Elections 2026: IUML Supports UDFs Return in Malabar Region

In a significant electoral achievement, the party has secured a record 22 seats in the Assembly elections, positioning itself as the third largest party, trailing only behind the Congress and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)]. This substantial gain has bolstered the confidence of its coalition partners, potentially leading to strengthened alliances in future political endeavors.

Notably, the election results mark a historic milestone for the party as it will welcome its first woman representative in the Assembly, Fatima Thahilia, who hails from the Perambra constituency. Thahilias victory is seen as a step forward for gender representation in the regions politics, reflecting a growing recognition of womens leadership roles.

As the Assembly convenes, the partys increase in seats may play a crucial role in shaping legislative discussions and influencing policy-making processes in the state.
