Kalaburagi experienced a significant turnout as Doddappa Appa, the ninth Peethadhipathi of the Sharanabasaveshwara Samsthan, inaugurated Basava Jayanti by unfurling the Shatsthala flag. This event marks the celebration of the life and teachings of the 12th-century philosopher and social reformer, Basava, who played a crucial role in promoting the principles of equality, devotion, and integrity within society.
Basava Jayanti is celebrated annually in honor of Basavanna, who is a prominent figure in the Lingayat community and is revered for his contributions to Kannada literature and the establishment of a progressive society. The ceremony included various cultural programs and spiritual discourses aimed at reflecting on Basavanna’s teachings and their relevance in contemporary society.
